Add one row per platform per period (week or month). The numbers shown are illustrative placeholders — clear them and log your own from each platform’s native insights.

What's inside

Week / month
The reporting period for the row — pick one cadence and stick to it (e.g. "Jan 2026" for monthly, or "W of Jan 6" for weekly). Consistent periods are what let you chart a clean trend line.
Net follower change
Followers gained minus lost for the period (e.g. "+180" or "-40"). This is more honest than raw follower count because it shows momentum, not just accumulated size.
Engagement rate
Engagement as a percentage of reach or followers — there are several valid formulas, so pick one and use it consistently. The free engagement-rate calculator will work it out if you would rather not maintain a formula by hand.
Profile / link clicks
Clicks to your profile, website or link-in-bio for the period. Pair this with UTM links so you can see which posts actually drive traffic, not just likes.
Avg engagement per post
Total engagement divided by posts published — a fairer comparison than total engagement when you post more some months than others.
Top post (link)
Paste the URL of the best-performing post for the period so you have a reference library of what worked when you review the trend later.

How to use this template

  1. Get the dashboard sheet

Download the time-series sheet as a CSV for Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, or copy it straight into a sheet — no import dialog and no account. A spreadsheet is where you will chart the trend, so Sheets or Excel is the natural home for it.

  2. Clear the sample rows

The example rows show how each metric column is used and are obviously placeholder numbers ("e.g. 12,480"). Delete them once you understand the layout and start with a blank grid.

  3. Pick one period cadence

Decide whether you are tracking weekly or monthly, then add one row per platform for each period. Pull the raw numbers from each network’s native insights — Instagram Insights, TikTok Analytics, LinkedIn page analytics and so on.

  4. Log the same metrics every period

Fill followers, net change, reach, impressions, clicks, total engagement, engagement rate and posts published. Use the free engagement-rate calculator for a consistent rate, and keep the same engagement-rate formula across every row.

  5. Chart the trend and review

Select a metric column across periods and insert a line chart in your spreadsheet to see the trend. Review monthly: which platform is growing, which post types earned the engagement, and where clicks actually went.

  6. Automate the collection going forward

Once you know which metrics matter, SocialKit can pull analytics across your connected networks in one place so you spend the time reading the trend instead of copying numbers by hand.

Best practices

  • Pick ONE engagement-rate formula and use it for every row — mixing "engagement / reach" with "engagement / followers" makes your trend line meaningless.
  • Track net follower change, not just total followers — a big account that lost followers this month is a different story than the raw number suggests.
  • Log clicks alongside engagement; a post can earn lots of likes but drive zero traffic, and only the click column tells you that.
  • Compare like periods — month-over-month or the same month year-over-year — rather than a busy launch week against a quiet one.
  • Pair this log with UTM links on every promoted post so the "Profile / link clicks" column reflects real, attributable traffic.
  • Each platform reports metrics slightly differently and changes its dashboards over time (as of June 2026), so note the source of each number and re-check definitions if a metric suddenly jumps.

Do it in SocialKit

Tired of copying numbers from every app? SocialKit brings analytics across your connected networks into one view so you can spot trends without the manual spreadsheet work. What each metric shows depends on what the network’s API exposes for your account.
